Information Technology Internship - Asset Governance
Description:
The Application Architecture & Strategy section at BMW Group Financial Services has an internship opportunity for a qualified candidate to
assist in management and advancement of our asset governance technologies and processes.
Position and project requirements:
- Understand the current technology and process behind technical asset governance at BMW FS and take on some of the operations responsibilities in order to "live" the process prior to changing it.
- Extend the current Asset Governance solution to support interface based development of services and participate in the rollout of Microsoft's Team Foundation Server (TFS) to determine what changes need to be made to the current Asset Governance solution.
- Participate and evolve our asset governance technologies and processes to migrate from web service governance to overall asset governance which includes web services, and database assets.
Skills:
- Experience in developing software solutions using Microsoft's .NET development platform.
- Experience in C# development.
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software
- Configuration Management and Technical Asset Governance processes.

Internship opportunities are available across the organization. As an intern, you'll work with other Cardinal Health professionals, as well as our business partners, customers and vendors. Your contributions will start on the first day, working on meaningful and exciting projects that will give you the hands-on experience you need to build a solid foundation for your career. As an intern with Cardinal Health, you will have the opportunity to interact with other interns and participate in tours, lectures and presentations that will increase your knowledge of Cardinal Health as well as develop your leadership skills.
Research needs include: Business Process Modeling: Intern will work with Cardinal Enterprise Architect to research and document:
- Modeling standards including EPC, BPMN and UML.
- Tools approach including Mega, ARIS and IBM Rational
- Creation of users guide detailing standards for process notation
EA Framework Review: Intern will work with Cardinal Enterprise Architect to compare and document Cardinal’s EA methodology against industry standard models like DODAF, TOGAF, Zachman, SAP EAF, etc. Participate in recommendation back to EA management on any potential changes to CAH methodology and deliverables.
General corporate responsibility: attending meetings, understanding how projects work, etc.
In addition, this intern could be used on one or more of the following projects:
- Generics
- Medical Products Distribution fulfillment blueprinting
- International – country specific go to market approach
Program Requirements
Qualified candidates must possess the following:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
PPAL (Pervasive Platforms and Architectures Lab) focuses on the development of platform technologies for mobile and pervasive computing. The department currently has active projects in wireless internet and Java technologies, wireless peer-to-peer platforms, social media platforms, interactive TV, wireless sensor networks, context-aware frameworks, data analytics and distributed wireless caching architectures. The work environment is high-energy and strongly oriented towards systems building. PPAL is part of the Applications Research at Motorola Labs.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES (EXPECTATIONS)
We are looking for summer intern candidates with strong skills in distributed systems, a passion for building systems and with the confidence to tackle bleeding edge distributed systems problems of business value to Motorola. Candidates are expected to be self-starters who enjoy exploring new technologies and have the entrepreneurial ability to collect environmental as well as business inputs into structured, focused problem statements.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Design and prototype a campaign management system for cross-device advertising. The project involves building a platform that orchestrates the serving and tracking of ads across TV and mobile devices. The assignment requires in depth understanding of web service technologies (PHP, servlets, HTML). Familiarity with advertising platforms (AdSense, OpenAds, etc.) is a plus. The end result will be a campaign management prototype that would showcase a functioning, dynamically tunable
campaign across two different classes of devices (mobile and tv) leveraging OpenAds (or alternative).
Job Requirements
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS.
Candidates must have experience in building and enhancing sizeable code bases, and working with widely-adopted industry technologies and platforms. To apply for this position,

In this role, you will learn to deploy the BuyDesign solutions in multiple deployment models, work with product management quality assurance and pre-sales to synthesize business requirements into .NET based software solutions as extensions to BuyDesign. Your work may be used for internal prototypes, customer demonstrations, or even as potential plug-ins that are made available to customers. You will learn about all aspects of understanding solution requirements, choosing deployment scenarios, personalizing applications, and extending the applications using APIs. Configuring the Business Intelligence and reporting aspects of the solution are also part of this position.
· Technology Research – One of the exciting aspects of the technology field is that it is dynamic and fast changing. As such, new technologies need to be evaluated and research needs to be conducted on how these technologies may be applied to take our solutions to the next level. In addition, prototype and experimentation is required to take our technology architecture to the next level. Measuring quality is a multi-faceted task, involving the validation of an application’s experience, reliability, stability, repeatability, and performance. In this area, you will work with our talented and passionate Quality team to learn formal testing of applications using a variety of testing techniques, from coordinating test plans, coding unit tests, developing test scenarios, applications, and plug-ins, and developing automated script tests. You will be exposed to and advanced in-depth understanding on the workings of hardware, the operating system, database configuration, web server configuration, and other technologies, learn to collect and interpret performance counters, setup multiple network scenarios for testing, and quantify application performance. You will also be exposed to validating an application’s readiness for release as part of the quality process and learn to work with stake-holders in product development and product management to certify an application’s quality.
